We have delineated the appropriate attitudes and criteria for evaluating societies and social systems in general. After examining the developmental relations between autocracy and democracy, we compared their competencies in the context of the current and predicted future changes in the world. A rapidly changing environment favors democracy over autocracy.

However, democracies have their own limitations. They need to compensate for majoritarian tendencies, perhaps through protective and power balancing means. The most synergistic solutions for society entail the evolution of political friendships.

The principles we have been discussing apply generally to all social systems. We now turn to examine the future of the most important social system of all -- the world system comprising all humans. It should not surprise the reader that the next chapter forsees the evolution of an international friendship.
